James A. Potts, II named “Rising Star Lawyer” by Birmingham Business Journal


Birmingham, AL – White Arnold & Dowd P.C. is pleased to announce that shareholder James A. Potts, II as been selected as one of the honorees in the Birmingham Business Journal’s Rising Star Lawyers special section. Mr. Potts joins shareholder Lisha L. Graham, who was named to the inaugural group of Rising Star Lawyers in 2015.  Per the Birmingham Business Journal, the Rising Star Lawyers section “highlights up-and-coming lawyers in the Birmingham metro area. Honorees were chosen based on their contributions to their firms and their potential to shape the industry, and the Magic City’s legal world, moving forward.”

Since graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Potts has worked in the field of general insurance defense. He has handled a variety of matters within the field, including automobile liability, tractor trailer litigation, premises liability, real estate contract disputes, construction litigation, insurance coverage disputes, employment litigation, products liability and wrongful death lawsuits.  Mr. Potts has previously been employed in the litigation department of a national casualty underwriter.

Mr. Potts has tried 40 jury trials in both state and federal court. In over 90% of these cases, he was able to obtain a verdict for the defendant or keep the verdict below the plaintiff’s last settlement demand. In 2010 and 2012, Mr. Potts was recognized as one of the most prolific trial lawyers in Alabama by the Alabama Jury Verdict Reporter.
