Biography

Adapting her skills to understand and engage with the needs of each client, Ms. McClendon is an advocate in primarily matrimonial and family law matters. Her experience working in the judicial system prior to practicing law provides a unique perspective for clients in family transition. Aside from handling domestic and family law issues, Ms. McClendon serves as a Guardian ad Litem to ensure the rights and best interests of those without voices court are protected.

Ms. McClendon graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2012. After working as the reporter for a small-town newspaper in Jefferson County, Alabama, she attended Birmingham School of Law and served as Court Attendant for the Hon. Eddie B. Vines and as Judicial Assistant for the Hon. Julie Palmer and for the Hon. Agnes Chappell (respectively) throughout and after graduating from law school.  She has practiced in the area of matrimonial and family law since being admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2018.

She is involved in both the state and local bars, and served on the Junior Board for the Alabama Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention from 2017 through 2020. Emily is a lifelong resident of Birmingham and currently lives in Crestwood with her fiance, Kris, and two cats: Wombat, a rescued Himalayan, and Minerva, a rescued Persian.
